Careers in MSE¶
Given the multidisciplinary nature of materials science and engineering, graduates are in high demand for a variety of science and technology related fields. There are careers in industry including but not limited to:
- Materials engineer
- Metallurgist
- Product/Process design engineer
- Research scientist
- Consultant
- Technical sales representative
- Computational scientist
- Chemist
- etc.
Many graduates of materials science and engineering continue down a path in academia becoming a professor or lecturer at a university.

Obtaining an engineering degree, whether it be materials science, chemical, electrical, or mechanical engineering, grants you a unique set of problem-solving skills which are valued across many different job sectors.
